Week 3
Story: Now You’re Cooking
Vocab: react, astounded, luscious, culinary, offense, crestfallen, opted
Skills: Text and graphic features, idioms, Greek roots (meter, therm, phon, tele, scope), point of view Word Study: Words with VCCCV patterns
***Kids can study for the vocabulary test using their Vocab Flip Book as well as on studystack.com (log in code: cjvos)
Writing/Grammar:
Kids are doing a great job on their chapters for our historical essay. As a class we've decided to focus our writing in the area of slavery, the Underground Railroad and the Civil War.
NE History:
Chapter 7 has us looking researching a famous Nebraskan.
Math:
As mentioned above, we have our state math test this week. We'll test from 1045-1200 on Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday if needed.
Also, all kids have been signed up for xtramath.org and have their own ID to log in at home to practice.
They can log in at home to practice their facts as math fluency is a 4th grade goal.
Friday Specials:

Other important information:
We have tech class on Thursday.
IF your child needs to be gone for any part of the day, PLEASE EMAIL ME AND THE OFFICE so we are aware of it. Pulling kids out without prior notification does cause a distribution to their day and at times, plans we have for the for school activities. Thanks for your consideration.

Students in 4th grade have a goal of reading 20 minutes nightly. When this goal is accomplished, a parent is to initial in the student's assignment notebook at the bottom the daily page column.
