Meet Mr. Vos
It's hard to believe, but I'll be in my 33rd year of education this year. The years have surely flown by. This year will be my 13th year at GES and after spending time in many others schools, I consider GES home and look forward to many more years of being a part of this great family.
I'd like to share with you a bit about myself. I graduated from Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, IA with a degree in elementary education and Theology. After graduation, I taught fourth grade for three years at Christ the King School in Omaha. I then moved to St. Patrick's in Elkhorn as Director of Religious Education for a year. From there I went on to serve as 7th & 8th grade teacher and Head Teacher at St. Mary's In Osmond, NE. It was during this time that I began working on a Master's degree in School Administration at Wayne State College. After three years at St. Mary's, I went on to become principal of St. Bonaventure School in Columbus, NE for six years. My family then moved to Omaha where I worked at Creighton University in the Education Department as the director of a graduate school program for two years. I then became principal at St. Joan of Arc in Omaha for three years prior to coming to GES.
I've been married to a great gal for 28 years this past July. Beth is a HAL teacher at Harvest Hills and White Tail Elementary. Prior to coming to GES, she spent 9 years at St. Stephen the Martyr School teaching 4th grade. We have two fantastic boys - Jonathon and Caleb. Jonathon graduated from Skutt Catholic in 2016, UNL in 2020, and Missouri Western University in 2022. He is currently an Athletic Trainer with the Nebraska Medicine working specifically with an orthopedic doctor. On Aug. 6, he married a Gretna grad - Megan Fedde and they live in Gretna. Caleb graduated from Skutt Catholic in 2021 and will is attending NE Wesleyan University and training to also be an athletic trainre and is a member of the Men's Soccer. Creighton is our maltipoo puppy and joined our family in June of 2013. She has been a joy to add to our family!
My educational goal this year is to stretch your child's mind as much as possible. I see each one of them as a great big sponge who is ready to soak up all that life has to offer. Throughout our time together, I see myself as a facilitator of knowledge - leading and guiding your child in the exploration of new learnings. I also strongly feel that this is an opportunity for us to work as a team and that we are all players working hard toward the same goal - to make your child the best they can become. Together - as a team - we can provide your child with some skills, habits, attitudes and strategies which will make them very successful.
Thank you in advance for the opportunity to work with you and your child and for allowing me to become a part of your child's life. I see this as my mission in life and an privileged to be working with such a fantastic group of young people. If you should ever need to contact me, please fell free to do so at school or via email. I look forward to a great year of learning and sharing!
